Solar PV Estimator
Learn the variables that affect the potential output of a solar photovoltaic system.
How This Works
Solar energy production estimation relies on understanding the relationship between surface area, efficiency, and available sunlight.
- System Capacity: Calculated as
Area (m²) * Efficiency (%). This assumes standard test conditions (STC) of 1000 W/m² irradiance. - Annual Production: Calculated as
Capacity (kW) * Insolation (kWh/m²/day) * 365 days * Performance Ratio. - Performance Ratio (PR): A coefficient (usually 0.75 - 0.85) that accounts for real-world losses due to wiring resistance, inverter inefficiency, panel soiling, and temperature degradation.
